Things Hidden #26 - You Cannot Know God

And there's an entire theology devoted to not knowing

Greetings from Austin! I welcome the opportunity to bring to you Things Hidden. Episode #26 of the Things Hidden podcast is out now!

A request right up front: I know that hundreds of you are following along pretty closely to Things Hidden. I deeply appreciate that and it is a privilege to be your guide on this journey. Do me a favor, if you’re not following the Things Hidden account on YouTube and Spotify - go over there and follow, like, comment, leave a review. All that fun stuff. It really does make a big difference in the algo. Thank you!

This episode focuses on the apophatic tradition - a theological approach that seeks to understand the divine by focusing on what God is NOT, rather than on what is.

The video we discuss today hits on numerous concepts that we’ve touched on in previous episodes. If you’ve heard me use the phrase “grasping at the ungraspable” - this episode focuses on building out that concept. The episode also includes a fantastic analogy comparing God to Black Holes, that hit hard for me the first time I heard it. Hopefully you find it helpful as well.

There was no script for this episode, so I don’t have anything to include here in the blog post, other than a link to the YouTube video. At some point I will start writing blogs that are separate and standalone from the podcasts, but for now I have a pretty full plate. So I’ll just invite you to watch the YouTube (or Spotify or Apple).

Please feel free to reach out with any questions or comments you might have. I continue to have phone calls with folks who reached out after watching Things Hidden and wanted to have a discussion about faith. I welcome those discussions, regardless of your vantage point.

If you want to follow along on socials too, they’re all linked here - https://linktr.ee/thingshidden

Be well.
